Story
River Adur, Bramber, Sussex
The transition into autumn brings a certain crispness to the air that is hard not to love and with it a clarity and beautiful richness of colours – ideal conditions for a riverside walk.
The sun gifted warmth to lessen the wind chill and encourage cold hands from warm pockets. Downriver a line of bare trees piqued my interest as sunset hues continued to increase in intensity. To make this image required working with and around the inflexible bridge railings, on tip-toes, and using my equally inflexible limbs!
The interplay of silhouetted tree limbs, akin to running ink, warm sunset and cool surface reflections briefly unite until daylight evaporates into dusk – providing just enough for three clicks of the shutter, a short while to savour the moment, and a feeling of warmth for the journey home.
